Snap, Crackle, Pop
It’s that time of year when my world goes nuts
The noise, the joy, people’s strange love of fireworks
Louder and louder, they whirl, burst and boom
The bravest of dogs will tremble, shiver and shake
Never a care shown for our furry friend’s fright
I just don’t understand the reason for the madness
Why can’t we celebrate in a quiet, understated way?
Wave flags, dress in coordinated red, white and blue
Eat hotdogs, drink beer, make homemade ice cream
My apologies folks, but I side with my animal friends
That night I will be beneath the covers with my cats
Happy Fourth everyone – but I’ll not be seen till after.
